Art Mina Hamada
Mina Hamada is a Japanese painter whose work is characterised by abstract and organic forms in soft, bright and warm colours. The flat, soft shapes interact harmoniously and in balance, while rhythm and colour provide a striking leitmotif to her work. Mina Hamada’s paintings and drawings are fresh and friendly, personal and sensitive, and invite us into the artist’s subconscious: a dream world that combines East and West, youthful spirit and profound philosophy. The artist works in a self-absorbed manner, exploring unknown realms of painting through the unconscious and improvisation. The titles of her works, sometimes in Japanese, Spanish and English, reflect this poetic self-analysis and refer to her transcultural background and her examination of her own identity.
Where it all began.
Mina Hamada, born in Louisiana, USA, grew up in Tokyo, Japan, where she studied Design and Illustration at the Sokei Academy of Fine Arts and Design. In Japan she holds her first exhibitions, presenting her paintings and handmade storybooks that combine her own drawings and story-poems.
At the end of 2009 she moved to Barcelona, Spain. Mina Hamada began to fall in love with the city’s urban art scene and started experimenting with large-scale murals. At the end of 2011 she meets Zosen; they begin collaborating on murals, paintings and screen prints, and have taken part in numerous mural festivals and exhibitions since 2012. Mina’s work is exhibited in galleries, institutions and public spaces across Europe, the United States, Latin America and Asia.
