One of the pioneers of graffiti in Catalonia: Werens, Ramon Puig. An artist from Sabadell who has been filling the streets of Catalonia with colour and controversy for more than three decades. The artist, trained at “La Massana” and the London College of Printing, lived through the emergence of the European graffiti movement, a graffiti trend that was foreign to the original movement that originated in the United States.

His urban artworks are scattered across countless walls everywhere. Places as diverse as Marrakesh, Venice, Berlin, Mumbai, New York, Sarajevo, London, Lisbon and many others have seen his flowers sprout from the cracks in the asphalt.

But the truth is that what Werens’ graffiti conveys, beyond aesthetics, is denunciation and vindication.
